Product Overview - LANdecoder Health Reporter

sm_HealthReport1.jpg (7846 bytes)Triticom introduces the initial offering in a set of software-modules that provide the network maintainer with tools to expand the scope of data interpretation, by allowing long-term trend analysis of captured data. The LANdecoder Health Reporter is a companion product to Triticom's highly successful LANdecoder32 network analysis tool, enabling a network administrator to view the snapshot data captured and stored by LANdecoder32 in an easily understood format. LANdecoder Health Reporter provides graphical views that support immediate recognition of network utilization, along with load distribution trends over an extended period of time. Problems that only occur during certain time periods or days of the week are highlighted immediately. With this information, the network administrator has a clear understanding of the network usage and possible problem areas. Now that the network has been accurately characterized, the administrator is able to make informed decisions regarding improvement of overall operational efficiency.

The combination of LANdecoder Health Reporter and LANdecoder32 provide a powerful tool for the network administrator or technician.

 

With LANdecoder Health Reporter V1.1, the graphical view set was expanded to include the new "high level protocol" data captured by the LANdecoder32 snapshot function. Additionally, the graphic timelines were augmented to accurately depict time gaps in the snapshot recording process.

With LANdecoder Health Reporter V1.2, Health Reporter provided new graphical support for Snapshot data captured by LANdecoder SNMP Manager and our newest product offering, TCP AppScope. The user interface was been enhanced to provide easier navigation between different report pages. Additionally, layer 3 Source/Destination/Conversation information was depicted by domain as well as by station.

LANdecoder Health Reporter V1.3 is the latest upgrade to our popular GUI product. It features improved processing of Layer 3 Source/Destination/Conversation information that significantly reduces processing time. It also includes the addition of timestamp information to appropriate graphs for Frame Distribution, Error Distribution, Rate per Minute, Rate per Second, and Summary reports. In addition, v1.3  supports snapshot report files generated by the LANdecoder SNMP Manager that contain arbitrary information about individual SNMP variables (up to six).

TREND AND CHARACTERIZATION SUPPORT FOR LANdecoder32 REPORT FILES

LANdecoder Health Reporter is an Excel spreadsheet that provides a starting point for analyzing the CSV format report files generated by the Snapshot function supported by LANdecoder32, LANdecoder SNMP Manager, and TCP AppScope. Through the use of Visual Basic macros and external programs data is processed and read into the proper locations so that the predesigned charts and graphs can be automatically updated. Macro buttons are also available to streamline chart printing and file saving.

LANdecoder Health Reporter is a standalone application utilizing Microsoft Excel to perform calculations and is intended for integration with any PC running LANdecoder32. System requirements and recommendations are dictated by LANdecoder32, and are shown below.

Health Reporter also displays report data generated by LANdecoder SNMP Manager and TCP AppScope.
