Product Overview - LANdecoder Network Management Suite

Since its inception in 1991, Triticom's strategy has been to provide the most functionality for the lowest cost in the software-based network analysis tool market. We are constantly improving our products through periodic upgrades that add more functions and greater utility. Triticom is proud to announce the availability of the LANdecoder Network Management Suite. LANdecoder NMS incorporates all the elements needed for a comprehensive network management tool into one integrated product offering.

The foundation of LANdecoder NMS is Triticom's award winning network analysis product, LANdecoder32. LANdecoder32 provides the platform to monitor network operations and health, and capture selected data to aid in diagnosing and isolating network problems. LANdecoder32 includes functionality to provide expert analysis of captured data and also can generate traffic on the network to aid in problem emulation. LANdecoder32 supports both real-time data capture and long-term snapshot files that allow post-event analysis.

When problem devices have been identified at the network level, a means is needed to get device level status and performance information, and possibly alter that devices operational assignment. LANdecoder SNMP Manager provides this function. As an integral part of LANdecoder NMS, LANdecoder SNMP Manager can be invoked with a button click on the LANdecoder32 screen. Manager can automatically locate and query any device with SNMP agents, and perform the required status and control activity.

The third element of the LANdecoder NMS is the LANdecoder Health Reporter. This Health Reporter provides a GUI to assist the network administrator in performing trend analysis and network characterization. LANdecoder Health Reporter takes the snapshot files previously capture by LANdecoder32, and converts them into graphic charts and figures. This graphical representation aids the network administrator's network analysis activities.

The final element of the Suite is the RMONster32. RMONster32 is a software-based RMON agent that supports RMON I and RMON II MIBs. It allows the management station to be a part of a larger enterprise network by providing a remote monitoring interface to other management stations within the enterprise.

SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 64 MB of RAM
  • 166 MHz Pentium
  • One supported Ethernet adapter or a compatible NIC that supports a promiscuous NDIS driver, including CardBus and WIN 9X PPP adapters
  • Remote monitoring with RMON probes requires a Windows socket (Winsock) v1.1 installed on the LANdecoder32 PC along with TCP/IP connectivity to the RMON probe(s)
