LANdecoder32 Supported Adapters The following adapters are recommended for use with LANdecoder32. As we test more adapters we will be adding them to our list. For each adapter the recommended drivers are also identified: Ethernet When monitoring Ethernet, Triticom strongly recommends using our AccuCapture drivers for reliable error reporting and capture. Any Ethernet card using a completely compatible controller should work. In the case of DEC- and AMD-based cards, the controller chip can usually be easily identified by the part number on the largest chip on the network interface card. At Triticom, we have tested and recommend the following network adapter cards:
Ethernet -- PCCard Interface The following PCCards are supported by Triticoms AccuCapture drivers when using the Windows 95 PCMCIA driver for Card and Socket Services support.
The AccuCapture-compatible cards above which support Traffic Generation are denoted by the symbol.Of course, any Ethernet adapter card which includes a promiscuous NDIS driver (either from the manufacturer or from Microsoft) will also function with LANdecoder32. The Traffic Generator will function with NDIS drivers. However, as previously noted, error information received from these drivers when monitoring should not be considered reliable and you will not be able to capture error frames. Token-Ring Since errors on the Token-Ring are reported at the MAC level, any Token-Ring card supplied with a promiscuous NDIS driver should function properly with LANdecoder32. Promiscuous drivers have been identified for the following:
