LANdecoder32's Drag-and-Drop Features

The true power of LANdecoder32’s frame transmitter feature is how quick and easy it is to define the frame data with Triticom’s new drag-and-drop functionality. Follow the simple process:

conversew.jpg (73519 bytes)

Select any address from the Conversations, Sources, or Destinations response table and drag it into the Frame Transmission window.

Transmit.jpg (23402 bytes)

Verify the direction of the transmission (which address is the source and which is the destination).

select.jpg (14161 bytes)

The transmit addresses are now set.

Trn_new.jpg (24913 bytes)

Using an existing trace file, the user can select any one packet and have it replayed over the network.

capture.jpg (132578 bytes)

This is done by selecting the frame and dragging it to the Frame Transmission window.

trn_2.jpg (26026 bytes)

Once the user has completed the frame setup the only thing left to do is push the Start Transmitting button.

In this example, LANdecoder32 will repeatedly send a HTTP Request GET… frame from Chris’ workstation to Todd’s workstation at 10 millisecond intervals until the user presses the Stop Transmitting button.

The new frame transmit feature in Version 2.0 is designed in such a way that it makes traffic generation virtually fool-proof for the end-user.

Of course, the frame transmit feature is only available when using LANdecoder32 in the local mode of operation, i.e., it is not available when controlling an RMON-compliant probe.
