LANdecoder32's Drag-and-Drop Features

Filtering allows for optimal use of the capture buffer space by storing only those frames you designate to be of interest. This makes it easier to review the LANdecoder32 Protocol Decoder and is particularly useful when high levels of network traffic could fill the capture buffer quickly.

Four filtering options are available in LANdecoder32.

  • Frame Content
  • Protocol Type
  • Hex Pattern
  • ASCII Pattern

The functionality of these filters has been improved with new support for dragging and dropping the data required for the above dialogs.
Setting a station address filter:
By dragging and dropping the addresses from an existing trace file, or from a real-time traffic monitoring window, the user can set up sophisticated filters that capture or display only the frames that match the station filter criteria. Depending on the situation (pre- or post- capture) the user simply drags the address desired from a real-time monitoring window (in this example a Conversations table) or from the Protocol Decoder window to the Frame Capture window.
